Shiatsu

Oriental medicine is a complimentary healing philosophy to naturopathic medicine. Shiatsu, also known as acupressure is a form of touch utilizing specific pressures to promote and influence the state of energy in the body. Shiatsu offers an important understanding of the unity of the body and mind, and adds to the Western understanding of physiology. Shiatsu utilizes acupuncture theories, without the insertion of acupuncture needles. It provides methods of treatment utilized in naturopathic medicine that can unify and harmonize the imbalances present in disease conditions, which, if untreated, can result in illness.

Traditional Eastern medicine describes as having a “life force” or “energy” (referred to as Chi, Qi, or Prana). The characteristics and condition of this energy comprises the essence of wellness or illness. The heart of the practice of shiatsu concentrates on restoring this energy and keeping it in optimal condition.

Dr. Felice apprenticed for two years in Japan under the guidance of shiatsu master Kenji Mishima Sensei. Dr. Felice believes that the restoration of balance is the foundation of good health. Shiatsu plays an essential role in this process.
